| Links are the very heart of the web. From mundane mechanics to personal lists of heartfelt favorites, links constitute both the frame and the very soul of the internet. |
| Personal Favorites - Have you visited an exceptional site covering a favorite hobby, team, interest? Varied and eclectic lists can be the most fun to stumble on. |
| Recommendation - A simple but effective (and very welcome!) way to acknowledge an online store or other commercial site for good service, selection, and/or prices. |
| Service to Visitors - for sites specific to a certain topic, help your visitors find other related sites. Entire sites are developed to cataloguing links. You can make your list stand out by being selective: visit a site and decide how interesting it is likely to be to your visitors. (Content and presentation are both important.) Sort your list, if you like, with your favorites at the top. |
| Increase Traffic - Simply put, links can only help bring more people to your site so it makes sense to swap links with kindred sites. |

Link Page Tips
|
| Accessibility - Links pages need to be found easily by visitors and by spiders. Ideally you should have a link to your links page directly from your home index page. |
| Avoid Frames - while not usually fatal, frames can confuse spiders, so it is best to present your links in a frame-free page. We do use frames for our store, but our links pages are frame free, and we always open them in a new window. |
| Index Your Lists - if your links page grows beyond a couple dozen links, you may want to consider categorizing them, and either maintain different pages or anchors for the categories. |
| No Scripts - Spiders can't navigate scripts and generally balk, even if it only takes a click to call the script. A straight text link to the links page is safest. |
